In this post, we want to highlight the advantages of electronic shifting. And as luck would have it, we have the perfect bike for it in our line-up: the Elektriker E2D.

Shimano’s Cues Di2 is an electronic shifting system developed specifically for e-bikes in the trekking and city segment. The system is powered directly from the e-bike’s main battery.
So, when we equip our Elektriker E2 with Di2, it becomes the Elektriker E2D.

A robust, reliable Cues derailleur, paired with the Cues Linkglide cassette and the Shimano Steps EP801 motor, creates a well-integrated system that gives you full control over shifting—or, if you prefer, takes over the job for you.

With the Autoshift function, the system “thinks and feels” for you: it automatically selects the right gear based on terrain, cadence, speed, and your riding preferences. This makes for smooth starts at traffic lights or on hills, protects your knees and drivetrain, and improves your overall riding experience.

You can switch between manual shifting and Autoshift at any time using the shift lever—with the current mode shown on the EP801 motor’s display.

In addition to Autoshift, there’s also Freeshift—especially useful for fast descents.
With Freeshift, you can pre-select your next gear without pedaling, for example when preparing for the next climb. The system briefly moves the chainring using the motor to execute the shift. Freeshift and Autoshift can also be combined.

Of course, a major benefit of any electronic shifting system is the minimal input force required. One light tap on the shift button is enough.
On demanding tours and longer rides, this makes a big difference.
And yes—shifting under full load is no problem at all.

With the E2D, you’ll experience intelligent, smooth shifting and riding with built-in tailwind—all on a bike with Velotraum’s signature premium quality.
